Some of the whales you may see while whale watching are the Gray Whale, the Humpback Whale, the Orca or "Killer" Whale and occasionally other kinds as well. You can go whale watching in the spring and see whales, Stellar and California Sea Lions, Elephant Seals and other sea wildlife. Here are some pictures of the whales that might be seen.

A Humpback Whale "breaching".

Humpback Whales are known for their breaching, flipper slapping and lob tailing. The males hum complex songs underwater. They are grayish black on top and white underneath.

An Orca Whale diving.

Orca Whales, or Killer Whales, are black and white. They are great hunters, an orca whale pod can kill a giant blue whale. they are only about 27-33 feet long and weigh about 12,000 pounds.

A Gray Whale

Gray Whales are mottled gray with white, gray or orange barnacles on their backs.  They have about 150-180 small baleen plates in their mouths that help them eat plankton and other microscopic organisms.
